Taps: David N. Curtin

 
David N. Curtin November 28, 2009 David N. Curtin, 84, of Penn Yan, NY, entered into rest on November 28, 2009. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, at Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 3, at St. Bonaventure University Chapel in Allegany, NY.

Burial with military honors will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bolivar, NY. Memorial contributions to help restore the USS Laffey may be made to Patriots Point Development Authority, 40 Patriots Point Rd., Mount Pleasant, SC 29464. (Note "Save the Laffey" on check, please.)

Dave was born in Syracuse, NY, the son of the late J. Raymond and Helen Redmond Curtin. He was a long-time resident of Bolivar and Geneva, NY. He served in WWII on the USS Laffey.

Dave graduated from St. Bonaventure University and was a quarterback for the university football team. In 1976 he was inducted into the St. Bonaventure University Sports Hall of Fame.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rita; children, Edward (Kerry), Colleen Seuffert and her children, Lauren (Jordan) Szklany and Christine Seuffert, James (Diane) and John (Judy); three other grandchildren, Melanie and Daniel Calderone and Nate Curtin; two great-grandchildren, Anthony and Ryan; sister, Elinor Dalheim; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers, J. Raymond Curtin and Edward Curtin.
