Work Party Improvements
For those of you who may not be familiar with the annual work party, I wish to point out that Patriots Point does everything in its power to make each worker's stay a pleasant one. Over the years, the forward chiefs quarters have been refurbished and most of the work party has been able to sleep and eat on the ship.
With 15 grown men competing for its use, the chiefs shower and toilet facilities have been adequate, but at times, crowded. In order to minimize this problem, the forward officers head was activated and has been used by 3 crew members. Even so, and in light of the fact that the number of men attending the work party has been steadily increasing, Patriots Point has taken it upon themselves to activate the shower and toilet facilities just forward of the crew's mess. This will go a long way in alleviating the rush to go on liberty by the work party. Work should be completed by the fall of 2001.
We are indebted to Patriots Point and especially to Vic Fletcher and Lee Ford, the driving forces behind this project. We are especially grateful that they have taken it upon themselves to make a cursory and initial shakedown of the facilities!
