WW II Laffey Camouflage referred to as "dazzle"
Courtesy of Ray Broll
In case you can't read
the words under the ship picture, here they are:
The Laffey was painted in this
measure for only a short period of time, from about April 1944 until about
July 1944, when she was painted in
Camouflage Measure 22 - Graded System. Pattern systems were
more commonly referred to as
"dazzle" camouflage. In addition to the benefit stated in the Painting
Schedule, they served to confuse
the ship's identity and to break up the lines after the ship had been sighted.
