Reginald R. Langevin:
While the Laffey was in Portsmouth, England, prior to the invasion of France in June 1994, I
had the chance for a short liberty. Walking down the street, I was stopped by a young boy about
seven or eight years old. He asked me if I would give him some money. I had already changed
some American money into English, so I reached into my jumper pocket and tossed
him the biggest coin in there. He caught it, looked at it and said, "Thanks, you cheap Yank
bastard. It's only a half-penny."
