Back to Home PageLuther "L. B." McBryde, 82, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, formerly of Pine Bluff, died Saturday, June 16, 2007 at home. Mr. McBryde was born July 11, 1924 in Palmyra to the late Luther H. and Mattie Hill McBryde. He was reared and received his early education in Glendale, graduating from Glendale High School.
Mr. McBryde served in the United States Navy during World War II, more specifically the USS Laffey, DD 724.
L. B. married Fredine Glover June 15, 1946 in Woodlawn, Arkansas. Mr. McBryde worked as a Owner/Operator for McBryde Downtown Exxon for 36 years, retiring in 1989.
He was a member of Olive Street Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, and was a 50 year member of Civitan Club.
Mr. McBryde was preceded in death by four brothers, Herbert McBryde, Arthur Lee McBryde, Harold McBryde, and J. B. McBryde; and a sister, Pearl Chambers.
Survivors include his wife, Fredine McBryde of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two sons, Dr. Gary McBryde and his wife, Sarah of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Danny McBryde and his wife, Cheryl of Marion, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Matthew McBryde and wife Denise, Amber Usrey and husband Bryan, Bradley McBryde and Andrea McBryde; and a great-grandchild, Sabrina Usrey; and numerous other family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 20 from 6-8 P.M. at Ralph Robinson & Son.
Services will be held in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son, Thursday, June 21, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Roger Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.
