Penfield: Friday, June 12, 2009. Age 84. Predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Mary Louise Coyne-Abaied. He is survived by his son, Daniel (Carol) Abaied; daughters, Lynn (Richard P. Cocola) Abaied and Joanne (Larry) Swetman; grandchildren, Jamie (David), Sara, Dylan, Mary, David and John; many nieces and nephews; numerous friends and associates.The family would like to thank Jack DeVuyst and his family fot their years of kindness and care of our Father. Also the staff at Life Time Health on Carter Street for their many years of care, Dr. Fatehehand and of course Dr. Megan Twilliger and most of all, Karen Curtin NPP, at the VA who was our Father's anchor and mentor.
Pour a glass of wine and celebrate Jim's life. A WWII Navy veteran, who was part of D_Day on Utah Beach aboard the USS Laffey DD 724 and the on the Pacific Ocean for several invasions in the Philippine Islands, including Iwo Jima. Jim would often say, "Oh, to feel the pounding deck under my feet again!" he lost his best friend Tony Moda, who he loved till the day he died. He is now with the love of his life, Mary; two best friends, Teddy Bogacz and Robert "Doc" Rouillier. He was a successful businessman and an avid traveler. His life was full of love, adventure and devotion to his family. "Darkness is just the absence of light, and every winter passes."
Friends may call MONDAY 4-7 PM at the funeral home. On TUESDAY please join the family at Holy Spirit Church (1355 Hatch Rd.,Penfield, corner of Plank Rd.) at 12:30 PM for his Funeral Mass. Interment, White Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contibutions may be made to the American Heart Association or American Legion Post 26, Clark Mills, New York.
