An interesting letter from Captain Harrison - Comdesron 60.
To start with, note the upside-down 6-cents air mail stamp. Next, he was his own censor.
Within the body of the letter: (1) it appears we were to have been scheduled for repair in Pearl,
but the damage was too extensive for those facilities (2) the wheels were in motion for Cdr.
Becton's Navy Cross and the PUC for the ship
If my memory serves me right, the Lowry was decommissioned,
sold to South America, and used as a target ship by that Navy.
