The USS Mansfield reunion was held this past Friday, October 20th on the USS Laffey. The day began with BM2 Ken McCullough piped 14 crew members aboard and were welcomed by Captain Chip Honsinger. This was followed by a luncheon and happy hour hosted on the Laffey. (by Captain Chip Honsinger) After lunch, there was a briefing on the QH-50 DASH helicopter drone by Laffey crewmember AT (Aviation Electronics Technician) Jay Cornwell in the hanger The event was highly successful and all participants enjoyed the day and special events.
The Mansfield was a nearly identical Sumner class destroyer, also built at Bath Iron Works, just months after the Laffey.
