As Fate Would Have it for Stan
Stan's General Quarters Station was on the 20mm's, starboard side, just below the bridge. He was a GM3/c.
He remained on this station until we took part in the Invasion of Okinawa. A few days before being assigned
to Radar Picket Station #1, he was approached by George Falotico, Cox 3/c whose General Quarters Station
was Mt. 51, and who did not like being confined in closed spaces. The two men agreed to switch stations. As
fate would have it, the last plane that attacked our ship dropped a bomb that detonated between the two 20mm
guns below the bridge, killing all operators, including George Falotico.
